In Athens and Chattanooga, this project involved a complete assessment and upgrade of the client’s exterior wood surfaces, with an emphasis on longevity, appearance, and consistent results across two locations.
The work began with a thorough inspection of all wood elements, including decks, railings, posts, fencing, and trim. Each surface was evaluated for existing coating condition, moisture exposure, UV damage, and structural soundness. Areas with failing stain, peeling finishes, or weathered gray wood were identified and prioritized for more intensive prep.
Preparation was a central part of the job. All surfaces were first washed to remove dirt, mildew, and surface contaminants, using appropriate cleaners for exterior wood. Where needed, a mild brightener was applied to restore uniform color and open the grain. Loose and flaking coatings were scraped away and the wood was sanded as needed to ensure a clean, sound surface that would hold new finish properly. Any protruding nails or fasteners were reset
