This project involved a complete soft wash of a two-story residence in Chickamauga, focusing exclusively on all paintable surfaces and intentionally excluding the brickwork. The objective was to restore the home’s exterior appearance by removing common organic growth and environmental buildup while protecting the existing finishes.

The work began with a detailed inspection of the exterior to identify all paintable areas to be cleaned, including siding, trim, soffits, fascia, and other finished surfaces. Particular attention was paid to areas with visible mold, mildew, pollen accumulation, cobwebs, and light surface staining so that the cleaning process could be adjusted as needed.

A soft wash method was used throughout the project. This low-pressure application of a custom detergent blend allowed for effective cleaning without risking damage to the paint or forcing water behind the siding. The detergent solution was applied evenly across all targeted surfaces, where it was given time to break down dirt, dust, organic growth, and atmospheric residue.

In sections where contaminants were more stubborn—such as lightly stained areas or spots with embedded dirt—the team followed up with gentle agitation. These areas were carefully scrubbed by hand or with soft-bristled tools to lift remaining buildup while preserving the integrity of the paint. This step ensured a more uniform finish and reduced the appearance of lingering discoloration.

After the cleaning and agitation phases, all treated surfaces were thoroughly rinsed. The rinse process was managed to ensure that detergent residues were fully removed, that no streaking was left behind, and that runoff was controlled around landscaping and walkways. The result was a noticeably brighter, cleaner exterior with siding and trim free of visible mold, mildew, and most surface staining.

Upon completion, the home’s paintable surfaces were left refreshed and revitalized, with organic growth and general buildup significantly reduced.
