Using patented low-pressure SoftWash equipment and customized mild detergent solutions, this project safely and thoroughly cleaned all surfaces and frames of the awnings at the Chattanooga facility to remove mold, mildew, and dirt while preserving the integrity of the varied fabrics.
This project involved a full exterior cleaning of all awnings at the All Awnings facility in Chattanooga, with focused attention on restoring appearance while preserving the integrity of the materials.
The work began with a detailed assessment of each awning, noting age, material type, existing wear, and any areas of heavy mold, mildew, or embedded dirt. This evaluation helped determine appropriate detergent strength and dwell times so that the cleaning would be effective without causing damage to older or more delicate fabrics.
All exposed surfaces of the awnings were addressed, including the top, underside, and supporting frames. A mild detergent solution was applied as part of a controlled soft washing process, allowing it to loosen mold, mildew, and surface contaminants. Special care was taken along seams, edges, and attachment points where organic growth and dirt typically accumulate.
The cleaning was performed using patented low-pressure SoftWash equipment. This approach ensured that stains and biological growth were treated thoroughly while avoiding the high impact of traditional pressure washing, which can weaken fabric, remove coatings, or force water into seams. Each awning was then carefully rinsed from multiple angles to ensure that detergent residue and loosened contaminants were completely removed.
Throughout the project, techniques and solution strengths were adjusted based on the specific condition of each awning. Some older units and those with pre-existing UV damage or staining were cleaned as gently as possible to avoid further deterioration. Due to variations in age, material, and prior exposure, certain stains and discolorations were reduced but not fully eliminated, and results necessarily varied among different awnings.
Upon completion, all awnings had been cleaned on both top and bottom surfaces, along with their frames, and were left free of loose debris, active mold and mildew growth, and general surface soiling, while maintaining the structural and aesthetic integrity of the existing materials.
