Pool deck and concrete patio cleaned with detergent soft wash to remove pet hair, mold, mildew, dirt, and pollen from all surfaces, including underside of deck and steps.
This project involved a detailed exterior cleaning of a residential outdoor living area in Cleveland, focusing on both a concrete pool deck/patio and a wood deck above.
The work began with the concrete pool deck and the concrete patio area located beneath the deck. Because the homeowner has pets that frequently use these spaces, there was a significant buildup of pet hair along the surface, in corners, and in small crevices. All loose debris and pet hair were carefully removed prior to washing to ensure a clean starting surface and to prevent hair from clogging drains or redistributing during cleaning.
Once the area was cleared, the concrete surfaces were surface-washed using a controlled blend of detergents specifically selected to address mold, mildew, algae, dirt, and other embedded contaminants common in shaded or high-moisture areas near a pool. The detergents were allowed proper dwell time to break down organic growth and surface residue without damaging the concrete or affecting nearby landscaping. After the cleaning solution had time to work, the entire area was thoroughly rinsed to flush away residues and leave the concrete clean and bright, with improved traction and appearance around the pool.
The second phase of the project addressed the wood deck, its floor, the underside of the deck, and the steps. Because this is a wood structure, a soft wash method was used instead of high-pressure cleaning to protect the wood from damage such as etching, splintering, or lifting of fibers. The floor and underside of the deck—as well as the stair treads and risers—were first rinsed to remove accumulated pet hair and loose debris. This included working between joists and along the edges where hair and dust tend to collect.
A specially mixed soft-wash detergent blend was then applied to the wood surfaces. This solution was designed to remove mold, mildew, pollen, dirt, and other surface contaminants that can discolor wood and contribute to slippery conditions, especially on steps. The cleaning agents were gently worked across the surfaces to ensure even coverage and effective cleaning of railings, deck boards, and underside framing where growth often goes unnoticed. The solution was then thoroughly rinsed off, removing the loosened buildup and leaving the wood noticeably cleaner and refreshed while preserving its integrity.
By the end of the project, the pool deck, concrete patio, and wood deck areas were fully cleaned of pet hair, organic growth, and general grime. The result is a brighter, safer, and more hygienic outdoor environment, with both concrete and wood surfaces restored to a well-maintained appearance and ready for regular use.
