For Collier Construction’s Breezeway Building 4 in Chattanooga, our work centered on delivering a fully finished, code-compliant, and coordinated electrical and low-voltage installation for a new multi‑unit structure with shared circulation spaces.

The project began with a detailed review of the construction documents and coordination with the general contractor and other trades. We developed circuit layouts and panel schedules to support unit loads, common areas, site lighting, and building systems, then refined routing to fit the structural constraints of the breezeway-style configuration.

Inside the units, we installed all branch circuitry, receptacles, switching, and lighting in accordance with current NEC requirements and the project’s interior design standards. This included dedicated circuits for kitchen and laundry equipment, GFCI and AFCI protection where required, and proper coordination of device locations with cabinetry, appliances, and finishes. We also wired and set all in‑unit lighting fixtures, exhaust fans, and specialty devices, confirming operation and labeling circuits for ease of future maintenance.

In the common breezeways and stairwells, we completed the power and lighting system designed for safety, visibility, and durability in partially exposed conditions. This included routing feeders and home runs cleanly through framing, installing weather‑appropriate fixtures, and integrating lighting controls such as photo cells or timeclock/automatic switching as specified. Emergency egress lighting and exit signage for corridors and stairways were installed, circuited, and tested to meet life‑safety codes.

At the service level, we provided the complete installation from meter centers and main distribution to individual panelboards. This encompassed setting and anchoring equipment, pulling feeders, making terminations, bonding and grounding all metallic systems, and performing required torque and continuity checks. Clear circuit directories were created for each panel to match as‑built conditions.

Life‑safety and low‑voltage systems were also part of our scope. We installed the rough‑in and final devices for the fire alarm system in coordination with the fire alarm vendor, including power supplies, notification appliances, and initiating device locations. Data and communication pathways were roughed‑in for provider tie‑in, with J‑boxes, raceways, and backplates placed per the low‑voltage plans and coordinated with finish elevations.

Throughout construction, we held field coordination meetings, adjusted routing around mechanical and plumbing conflicts, and kept penetrations and support methods consistent with structural and fire‑stopping requirements. All penetrations through rated assemblies were properly sleeved and made ready for fire‑caulking, and device heights and alignments were checked against finish carpentry and tile work.

At the close of the project, we conducted function testing of all lighting, receptacles, and equipment connections; verified operation of emergency and egress lighting on backup power; and supported inspections by the local authority having jurisdiction and utility provider. Punch‑list items were addressed promptly, including minor device adjustments, labeling updates, and fixture aiming where applicable.

The completed Breezeway Building 4 now has a fully operational electrical system that supports residents’ day‑to‑day needs, meets Collier Construction’s quality expectations, and aligns with current code and safety standards, from the individual units out to the common breezeways and shared building infrastructure.
